Chinese Ambassador Warns of Bullying Behaviour
The Ambassador echoed criticism by the Chinese Foreign Minister about the international rules-based order but believes that momentum towards a multipolar world is 'unstoppable'.
Yesterday, saw the 11th annual China Business Summit take place in central Auckland.
Unlike last year, when Chinese Ambassador Dr Wang Xiaolong issued a pointed warning to New Zealand about the risks of joining the AUKUS defence alliance, this year’s critique was directed squarely at the United States.
The Ambassador’s three key points were as follows:
First, rapid advances in technology have led to an unprecedented surge in productivity, dramatically re-configuring ways of life and production, and how societies organise themselves.
Secondly, tectonic shifts are on the move in the international political and economic landscape, particularly with the collective rise of the Global South.
Thirdly, a deficit in global governance has posed challenges, and even threats, to the international architecture.
